Continuing Education Hours
All major line licenses and adjusters must complete 24 credit hours every 2 years.

Compliance Date
The Agent Services Division has established a staggered system in which the credit hour compliance period is based on the date of birth. Licensees will be notified about this system in the October mailing.
The Compliance period to meet the CE requirements is biennially and will be based on the licensee's birth month and year of birth (odd or even years). For example, if you were born in 1960 you must meet your CE requirements every two years in even years.

License Renewal Date
No license renewals in this state. License is perpetual as long as agent does not go more than 1 year without a valid appointment and meets CE requirement.

Course Subject Requirements

Effective January 1,2008 - Adjusters and agents who hold one or more of the following licenses; Property, Casuality, Personal Lines, Life, Accident/Health/Sickness or Variable Life/Variable Annuity products may complete their 24 CE credit hours requirement by taking courses in any line of authority.


All agents and adjusters must complete a 3 hour ethics course every two years.
Adjusters, Property Agents, and Personal Lines Agents must complete a 3 hour flood course within two years after Jan 1, 2008, and every four years thereafter

Carryover Requirements
Up to 9 classroom hours may be carried over to the next reporting period for a single license and 6 hours per license type may be carried over for a dual license.

Course Repetition
Credit will not be given for a course taken more than once in a two year period.

Final Exam
Final exams for correspondence courses are required to be monitored by a disinterested third party. ONLINE EXAMS DO NOT REQUIRE A MONITOR.

Exemptions
• Newly licensed individuals are exempt for the calendar year in which the license is issued.
• Individuals who are at least 65 years of age, have been licensed continuously for at least 25 years, and either a) hold a CLU, CPCU, ChFC, FLMI or IIA designation, or b) certify that they are inactive insurance agency owners who neither solicit applications for insurance nor take part in the day-to-day operation of the agency.

STUDENT EXPERIENCE:
1. Student will pay and enroll in course.
2. NC does not require a monitor during online exams.
3. Lesson mastery is not a requirement.
4. The student takes a closed book online exam and must be locked out of the final if they pull out of the exam for any reason. If they wish to continue the final then they must take another version of the final.
5. The student will be allowed to take the exam no more than 3 times
6. Certificates: Student is not allowed to print their own certificate
